  • Sewing machine in good working order (including feet for applique) and 1/4″ foot for seams)

  • Wool fabric 71/2″ x 51/2″ (I will bring plenty of felted wool fabric)

General supplies for class

  • Ironing board and iron (supplied at senior center)
  • Cutting Mat and rotary cutter
  • Rulers for squaring finished project.

Optional designs for needle book covers

  1. Embellished covers using decorative stitching. (Choose fabrics with open space backgrounds. Large prints work well, fabrics with small circles, border prints, strips, etc.)
  2. Orphan quilt blocks are a good way to use up leftover scraps.
  3. Old dresser scarves.
  4. Left over machine embroidery scraps.
  5. Crazy quilt squares.
  6. Applique fabrics for covers (bring fabric)

Added note

If using a fabric embellishment design try different threads as rayon embroidery threads, heavy cotton, wool, or metallic. Try scraps of lace, ribbon, buttons, beads, and trims. Also think of using novelty prints for applique.
